I never thought to bake cheeseburgers – EVER. If you haven’t yet, you are SO missing out. It’s quite delicious and better for you! I tried a recipe on the internet for the hubs but he didn’t like it. So, what’s a wife to do? Make it my way!
Here’s what you’ll need:
- 1 lb. lean ground beef
- 1/4 cup barbecue sauce (I used Sweet Baby Ray’s BBQ sauce)
- salt, to taste
- pepper, to taste
- 3 slices American cheddar 2% cheese (cut into four pieces)
- 12 small slider rolls (I used King’s Hawaiian Bread)
Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F.
In a bowl, combine beef, barbecue sauce, salt, and pepper. Gently press mixture into a 9 x 13-inch baking dish so it makes one large patty of even thickness. Use the tines of a fork to poke holes throughout the meat.
Bake for 25 minutes or until fully cooked. The meat will shrink away from the sides and a pool of liquid will accumulate at the bottom of the baking dish. Carefully drain off the liquid.
Place the cut cheese pieces on top of the meat and return to oven for 2-3 minutes until the cheese starts to melt.
Remove from oven and allow to rest for a few minutes.
In the meantime, use a serrated knife to cut the slider rolls in half horizontally.
Using a large spatula, gently lift the hamburger meat onto the bottom half of the slider buns.
Add additional toppings if desired and place the other half of the sliders on top. Cut into 12 little sliders along the bread line. Serve warm.
These are quick, easy, and delicious! Go make them this weekend. Enjoy!
